September will be filled with numbers and patterns. With the introduction of a math textbook it is important that students read and look at the pictures to understand the math problems. We will be using the textbook for unit launches and reviews, our math journals for problem solving questions and also supplementary pages that will be in our green math duo tangs!
Here are some Unit 1: patterning and place value activities that you and your child can work on at home: 1) Refer to the back of your child's agenda to find a hundreds chart. Here you can ask your child to skip count by 2,3,4,5,6 and 10's. 2) Have your child group the same object into groups of 5 or 10 and then have them skip count. Count each item to double check!
